A tap blank is a semi-finished unthreaded cutting tool that has been pre-machined to conform to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), DIN (Deutsches Institut fur Normung), JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) or DIN/ANSI (DIN OAL ANSI Shank/Square) dimensions for overall length and holding (shank) specifications, but has not yet had its specific cutting threads or flutes ground.
By stocking thousands of high-quality blanks, we bypass the most time-consuming steps of tool manufacturing, allowing us to grind the specific thread characteristics you need and ship the finished product immediately.
Once the appropriate ANSI blank is selected, our engineers customize the cutting end based on your exact application needs:
Custom spacing to match specialized fasteners or unique part designs.
We can grind standard 60-degree V-threads (UNC, UNF, UNEF), Metric profiles, ACME, Whitworth, coil, buttress, as well as a wide range of special thread profiles
Precision grinding to specific "H" limits (inch) or "D" limits (metric) to accommodate pre-plating, heat-treat shrinkage, or oversized/undersized hole conditions.
Taper, plug, or bottoming chamfers designed for your specific blind or through-hole applications.
Massive Size Range: Taps are manufactured up to 6″ in diameter daily.
High Volume Output: We process and manufacture up to 100 custom orders every single day for next-day shipment.
